记住: "the day before" 显示这是事后的转述。说话人的动词要怎样改变？
- 说话人原话的动词是 "lost"。句中有 "the day before"，所以转述时时态要后移一步。
- 所以 "lost" 改为 "had lost"。

常见错误
- 用了现在时态。转述的是较早前的话，动词要相应改变。
- 保留了原话的动词形式。句中有 the next day、at that time 这类词语，转述时动词要随之改变。
