Worked example 1

A: How ___ juice do you want? B: One cup, please.

Remember: Look at the word after the blank. Can you count it? Does it mean one or more than one?

Common mistakes

  • Used every with more than one, or with something you cannot count. Every goes with one thing, as in every day.
  • Used many with something you cannot count, such as milk or rice. These take much.
  • Used much with things you can count. Things you can count take many.
