Remember: This did not happen, and it is too late now. Which half of the pattern is the blank in?

Common mistakes

  • Used have or has. This is about a past that cannot be changed, so it needs had.
  • Used will, but the time in the text is already over.
  • Put would in the if-clause. Would belongs in the other half of the sentence.
